  • New additions to the Fenwick Elliott team

    We are pleased to announce the arrival of Andrew Davies who joined on 1 July 2010 and Lucy Goldsmith who joined on 9 August 2010. Andrew has over 10 years experience in construction and engineering law, most recently at K&L Gates (formerly Nicholson Graham & Jones), whilst Lucy, who was awarded a merit for her MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King’s College London, most recently worked at Hammonds LLP.   • Nicholas Gould becomes President of Region 2 of the DRBF

    We are pleased to announce that Nicholas Gould has become President of Region 2 of the DRBF.

    The appointment was confirmed at the 10th Annual conference of the DRBF in Istanbul on 14 May 2010. The Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF), with members in over 31 countries world-wide, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the avoidance and resolution of disputes worldwide, where possible avoiding litigation or arbitration. Region 1 covers North America and Region 2, the rest of the world. The DRBF provides assistance with the worldwide application of Dispute Boards by providing general advice and suggestions tailored for the conditions and practices existing in local areas.     "Mediating Construction Disputes: An Evaluation of Existing Practice" is the full report of the 2006-2008 research, headed up by Nicholas Gould and Claire King of Fenwick Elliott and conducted by the Centre of Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King's College London and the Technology and Construction Court. Much more has been written about the theory of mediation, and its proper place in the avoidance and resolution of disputes in construction, than about its actual use; this report combines hard detail about its practice within UK construction litigation with a summary of the existing knowledge about mediation in the common law world and about its relation to other formal and informal methods of dealing with construction disputes.

  • New partner joins Fenwick Elliott

    We are pleased to announce that Frederic Gillion, joined Fenwick Elliott as partner on 1 February 2010.

    Frederic, formerly of Shadbolt & Co, has dual qualifications in English and French law . Much of Frederic's recent international work has involved acting for major contractors in Central and Eastern Europe. Another FIDIC specialist, he is a regular contributor to the Practical Law Company website, often speaks at seminars and also helps organise each year a one-day FIDIC conference in Bucharest.
